Hideo's Mysteries

“Originally, I was writing Hideo's Mysteries as a joke on Twitter.”

“I don't want to rank them, so I'm going to be announcing them in the order that I read them or the order that they went on sale.”

“I actually received a message from him on Twitter. […] I can't believe he wrote something this good his first time around.”

“I wrote those comments because I want people to read the books. But also, after you read the books, you can look back at those comments and understand the meaning behind them. They serve a double purpose.”

“The book includes a selection from "70% of My Body Is Made of Movies," which was published years ago by Sony Magazines, film critiques I wrote for Bunshun Online after becoming independent, novel afterwords and contributions, a collection of comments from 'Hideo's Mysteries,' travel essays serialized in the Nikkei Sunday edition newspaper, and essays about Kōbō Abe, among others.”
