What this is
The Kojima Archive is an unofficial documentary reconstruction of what Hideo Kojima has said in interviews, books, festivals and social media. It has no connection to Kojima Productions, Konami or Hideo Kojima. Quotes are reproduced for documentary and reference purposes, and each one links to the outlet where it was documented.
The rule that orders everything else: what has no verified source is not here. This archive would rather come up short than invent.
Passages taken verbatim from Wikipedia are reproduced under CC BY-SA 4.0 , and each one links the article it came from. Some linked translations are the work of fan archives rather than official editions; where that is the case it is written down — in the source line, or on that source's own page.
The entry
The unit of the archive is the entry. Each one gathers a core fact (a factual summary, plainly stated), the original quote where there is one — 635 entries have it — with its language, and one or more sources: outlet, date and link. Nothing is published without evidence the archive actually consulted, either at the original URL or through a preserved copy whose access path is declared.
Under the source you will sometimes read a short supporting phrase: the specific text from the document that holds the fact up. It only appears when it really is the source speaking. Where the record holds a summary written by the archive instead, nothing is shown — putting our own wording in quotation marks would turn a note into a quote.
The full inventory of documents is in Sources: every registered source carries who signs it, when it was published and consulted, what kind of document it is and, where the archive has written it, what it does not answer for.
Not every quote here is personally worded by him. An archive about someone also records what the people around him said: 19 entries quote Norman Reedus, Woodkid, Geoff Keighley, Yoji Shinkawa, Guillermo del Toro and others talking about him or about working with him. Those entries name the speaker — in the list, on the entry, in the citation you can copy and in the card that appears when the link is shared. Another 6 entries preserve verbatim wording published by an official account without claiming who personally drafted it; those name the account. Only where neither a speaker nor an account appears are the words attributed directly to Kojima.
Languages
Where the source is in another language — Italian, Japanese, Spanish — the quote is shown in that language and the English text carries the meaning. No English original is invented for words that were never said in English, and no entry is written by translating another entry: each one is written from its own source.
Types
The type describes the relation between the claim and the original words:
| Direct quote | Verbatim words, in the language of the source consulted. |
|---|---|
| Paraphrase | What he said, reworded; the source backs the content, not the literal wording. |
| Anecdote | An episode told by him or documented about him. |
What this archive does not do
It does not invent, does not opine and does not fill gaps: if two facts are not connected in a source, they are not connected here either. If you find an error, every entry carries its link so you can check it against the original.
