Anecdote 2001
“When Kojima first announces something, everyone thinks he's joking. But then he starts making it just as he said and we realize after the fact, "oh, he was serious." (laughs) [...] If you leave him to his devices though he'll actually do the crazy stuff he says.”
— Yoji Shinkawa
What it documents
In 2001 Yoji Shinkawa said that when Kojima announces something for the first time everyone thinks he is joking, but then he begins to do it just as he said and people realize afterwards that he was serious; Shinkawa explained that Kojima is the kind of person who is constantly joking, so at first you never know what is a joke and what is serious, yet if you leave him to his devices he will actually do the crazy things he says.
