“It's a song that has been used in movies and I actually thought about using it for the ending of Death Stranding. The lyrics and the vibe would have fit really well, so I had that song in mind when I made the ending.”
Kojima revealed he considered using Into My Arms by Nick Cave for the ending of Death Stranding, saying the lyrics and vibe would have fit perfectly and that he made the ending with that song in mind. Because Norman Reedus is an acquaintance of Nick Cave, Kojima had hoped Reedus could introduce them, but at the time Cave was going through family matters so Kojima decided not to ask him. He said the desire to work with Cave remains: he would love to collaborate with him and asked that if Cave is listening to Brain Structure he should send an email, and later restated plainly that he would love Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to do the soundtrack for their game and called out to see if they were listening.
“And since Norman Reedus is an acquaintance of Nick Cave, I was hoping he could introduce us. But at the time, Nick Cave was going through some family stuff so I decided not to ask him. […] Yes, I would love Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to make the soundtrack for our game. Are you guys listening? Over?”
