Kojima revealed the hidden template for Metal Gear Solid: the film Sacco and Vanzetti, with music by Morricone, which he loves; he said he referenced it a lot in Metal Gear Solid and that Snake and Otacon were very similar to Sacco and Vanzetti. He added that he even considered an ending in which the two, having become fugitives, are brought to trial, but that everyone told him to stop because they did not like it.
