At the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, Kojima suggested that prospective game developers watch two films a day.
“Kojima is a gifted talker, about everything from movies (at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, he suggested that prospective game developers watch two films daily)”
“Making a game is very similar to making a movie. It would be ideal if I could spend two years on a game and then the next two on a movie.”
“I'm very interested in the new format of game that will appear on there and that's what I want to take on.”
Kojima said he tries to watch one film a day and devotes all his non-working time to that; he gets through meals as quickly as possible and spends the rest of his time on film watching and reading, except on weekends when he plays with his children.
“Hideo, what you're making is already a movie. Keep going as you are.”
“I create films and art within the medium of games. This is not a conscious choice, it is simply an inevitable result.”
