“I have on average 200 problems at once to do with details of the game, and it's up to me to make decisions on all of them. ... Sometimes I do bug checks in my dreams.”
Kojima described his day-to-day as directing a game as a mix of programming, art, narrative, sound and interactivity, a terribly complicated mechanism that produces problems every minute and forces snap decisions. He said he has on average 200 problems at once related to details of the game and that it is up to him to make decisions on all of them; the ones he cannot resolve stay in his head after he leaves the office and sometimes he does bug checks in his dreams.
“So we constantly have to make snap decisions. ... I have on average 200 problems at once to do with details of the game, and it's up to me to make decisions on all of them. So the ones I'm unable to resolve stay in my head. They're on my mind even when I leave the office. Sometimes I do bug checks in my dreams.”
