“In this day and age, people don't believe in UFOs because if they existed, we should have good photos of them.”
Kojima explained his theory for why people no longer believe in UFOs: today everyone carries cameras—smartphones, drive recorders, surveillance cameras recording 24 hours—so if UFOs existed we should have good photos, and because we do not, people conclude they do not exist. He said the same logic applies to the Loch Ness monster, ghosts and the paranormal as a whole. He added that a YouTuber with superpowers would have millions of followers, and that denying UFOs is equivalent to denying the entire supernatural phenomenon, which he finds a little disappointing to contemplate.
“Now, we have smartphones and drive recorders. Surveillance cameras are everywhere. […] But now, anybody could take a photo, so maybe Lochness monsters don't exist. […] If there was a YouTuber with superpowers, they'll have millions of followers. […] it may be a bit disappointing to think that UFOs, paranormal creatures, supernatural phenomena might not exist at all.”
