“We've been calling them UFOs this entire time, but they aren't called UFOs anymore. What are they called again? It starts with a U, but it's different after that. That makes me a little sad.”
At the end of the episode, Kojima noticed that they are no longer called UFOs: they are now called UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), and that makes him a little sad. He said “phenomena” is not the same as “object” — an object can be grabbed — and the new term, which could encompass even the paranormal, sounds strange to him, almost like a conspiracy theory. He also observed that nowadays the only ones who see them are pilots, who are surrounded by cameras, and that this removes the old irony: before, pilots would tell what they saw and nobody believed them.
“We've been calling them UFOs this entire time, but they aren't called UFOs anymore. […] UAP, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. — Phenomena, right, that's different than an object. […] Nowadays, pilots are the only ones seeing them. I mean, pilots are surrounded by cameras. But that's not really very interesting.”
