“And in these dark times, this film gave me courage and laughter and tears from how moved I was. […] I really felt the power of entertainment.”
In autumn 2022, Kojima described the moment as one of the darkest in history for him — pandemic, war in Ukraine, price increases, the threat of missiles from North Korea — and said it could end up like the Cuban Missile Crisis. He said that in times like these RRR gave him courage, laughter and tears from how moved he was, and that he really felt the power of entertainment. He named Top Gun (with Tom Cruise) as the other hit of the year at that level and stated that receiving encouragement and energy through entertainment is a necessity.
