“When I see movies and get ideas, usually just talking to people, eating or walking, or maybe I'm in a bath, I come up with these ideas. So it's almost like a disease, I call it. Even when I'm talking with my family, in my head, I'm in a totally different world.”
Kojima has explained that ideas come to him during everyday activities such as watching movies, talking, eating, walking or bathing; afterwards he collects, organizes and prioritizes them, and considers the real problem to be whether they can be realized under constraints like time. In 2025 he described that continuous production of ideas as almost a disease and said that even when talking with his family he can be mentally in a totally different world.
