“...my dad couldn't answer. He just kept looking at me through convulsions. His eyes looked like they were trying to tell me something...”
In the summer of 1977 Kojima’s father, Kingo, returned early from his job at a pharmaceutical company complaining of a headache and collapsed in convulsions while Kojima’s mother prepared dinner. Thirteen-year-old Kojima called 119, went outside to guide the ambulance and accompanied his father to the emergency room; his father could not answer and only looked at him as if trying to tell him something. He died the next afternoon, aged 45, of an acute subarachnoid hemorrhage, leaving no will.
