Kojima met Jordan Peele in episodes 5 and 6 of his podcast Brain Structure (October 2022), by videophone from Los Angeles with Geoff Keighley as master of ceremonies. Although it was the first time they had spoken, Kojima said at the end that, already knowing Peele was a director of enormous talent, he found him to be a wonderful person, that he felt they had known each other since childhood and that they were going to be good friends. In the conversation Peele recounted his connection with Metal Gear Solid 2, and they agreed to meet in person — Peele asked them to let him know when they were in town, and Kojima said he would go.
