And so, just in case Death Stranding became my last work, I wanted…

Anecdote 2022-12
“And so, just in case Death Stranding became my last work, I wanted Lindsay to be a part of it.”
What it documents

The most memorable casting for Kojima on Death Stranding was Lindsay Wagner, his number one idol growing up; because he approaches every project as if it might be his last, he decided that, just in case Death Stranding became his last work, he wanted Lindsay to be part of it. She agreed to meet but was skeptical of mainstream video games that are all about shooting and fighting with sticks, so her participation was uncertain. Kyle Cooper let them use his studio for the meeting; there Kojima spent about three hours explaining the concept of the rope — the other games will be sticks, his was a rope — and Lindsay really understood him and got on board. He was very happy and had feared she might say no, and he did not know what he would have done if she had.
