Anecdote 2012-05-24
“Lost World was the first project I was assigned to and the game was cancelled after six months.”
What it documents

The first project Kojima was assigned at Konami, Lost World, was cancelled after six months, a severe blow. He then moved onto Metal Gear: Konami wanted a conventional war game, but he wanted to subvert the genre. He found it extremely difficult to be heard — his first game had been cancelled, he was the youngest member of a large group, and the kind of game he proposed did not exist — until he persuaded the most senior member of the team, who spoke to a superior; that superior allowed him to present Metal Gear to everyone and, on seeing the idea, the team supported him.
