“You can't show them the inside of your brain. You draw pictures and try to put it into words. But you can't show them in moving pictures.”
Kojima said NOPE left him, as a creator, cleansed. He said making something that has not existed before —as with Death Stranding or Metal Gear— can be isolating, because although you cannot do it alone, there is not a good way to show people your ideas: you cannot show them the inside of your brain; you draw pictures and put them into words, but you cannot show them in moving pictures. For that reason he found it incredible how well they managed to do so with the film.
“As a creator, I felt cleansed. You can feel pretty isolated making something that hasn't existed before, like with Death Stranding and Metal Gear. Even though you can't do it alone, There's not a good way to show people your ideas. You can't show them the inside of your brain.”
