Everyone has had that experience with a book, movie, or music and the…

Direct quote 1992
“Everyone has had that experience with a book, movie, or music and the like, where we secretly say to ourselves afterward: "I'm glad to have been alive and experienced this." [...] With Snatcher, I wanted to prove to myself that the new medium of games could do this too.”
What it documents

In 1992 Kojima said that what he seeks is to create something that demands sacrifice, that has value and that contributes something positive to the world even if only for an instant. He said everyone has had with a book, a movie, or a song the experience after which one secretly thinks I’m glad I was alive to have experienced this, an experience entirely different from the passing activity of killing time; that, he said, could be called culture, and with Snatcher he wanted to prove to himself that the new medium of games could do this too.

“Some things have a deeper impact–I think you could call it culture. And I too have had many such experiences. I'll never forget the art that has moved me in this way, I'm very grateful for it.”
