“Since you're the creator of the song, you're probably the number one listener of Goliath. But the person who listened to it the second most is me. I listen to it 50 or 60 times a day.”
Kojima said the worldviews of Woodkid’s song and Death Stranding are very similar. He explained that it had been a while since he last edited a trailer, but when he heard Goliath everything came to him; when he edits he does the whole edit in his head before working on the machine. After hearing Goliath the Director’s Cut trailer was nearly finished and came together naturally. Normally a trailer starts from scratch, but because it was the Director’s Cut all the scenes were already in his head, so he only had to piece them together while listening to the song, and he could not have made that trailer without its music. He also said that, after the song’s creator, the person who has listened to Goliath the most is him: he listens to it 50 or 60 times a day.
