Woodkid said he met Kojima before the pandemic and that Kojima used two of his previously released songs, “Goliath” and “Pale Yellow,” in the gameplay of the first Death Stranding. Kojima then contacted him while working on the sequel to request a new song; Woodkid made working together in person a condition rather than exchanging music by email, so he went to Tokyo and worked in the Kojima Productions building.
