“I didn't know his work at the time but we met up and did introductions and right away he let me listen to a sample of his latest album. One listened to that, and I was captivated.”
Kojima dated his meeting with Woodkid to January 2020. He had some business in France and met Woodkid through a mutual friend. He did not know Woodkid’s work at the time, they exchanged introductions, and Woodkid immediately played a sample of his latest album; Kojima listened and was captivated, and knew then that he wanted to work with him. The chain continued alone: in late spring Woodkid sent another song, and as Kojima listened he began to visualize an idea with it; he wanted to use it in his next trailer, and that song was Goliath. Since then he has kept borrowing his songs. He wanted to be his friend, and that is how it all started.
