People often describe it as like a chemical reaction. Like A and B…

Anecdote 2023-03
“People often describe it as like a chemical reaction. Like A and B react to create C or D. What Woodkid and I are doing is like a DNA modification. It's like something completely new that doesn't exist in this world is born every time.”
What it documents

Kojima described working daily with Woodkid at Kojima Productions, explaining that their sound studio was not finished so they set up Woodkid’s equipment in one of the meeting rooms and Kojima could watch him from his office through the glass walls; Kojima said he was amazed by Woodkid’s concentration and that he wants to continue working with him forever. He described their rhythm as extremely fast, that Woodkid works quickly and every song is incredible, and that they can converse with hardly any words in a process like a rapid tennis rally: back and forth, back and forth. Kojima characterized their creative affinity by rejecting a simple chemical-reaction analogy and saying that what Woodkid and he do is like a DNA modification, producing something completely new that does not exist in the world, and that this happens at extreme speed and sets a high bar for the staff and for him, a situation he called definitely not common.
