“In my first idea, Chiko was alive but has become a deranged killer. He was supposed to appear as someone violently killing people, kind of like Christopher Walken's character in The Deer Hunter.”
Kojima revealed cut content from MGSV: after Peace Walker — where Kikuko voiced Chico and, because Peace Walker was made for the PSP, he lowered the target age group by about ten years so children in primary and secondary school could play it and the story was changed to be appropriate — the series returned to home consoles with themes like the chain of revenge and retribution, more mature. A plan died there: Chico was not in MGSV, so Kikuko was not credited. In his first idea, Chico was alive but had become a deranged killer who would appear violently killing people, kind of like Christopher Walken’s character in The Deer Hunter, but that scenario would have deviated from the main story so Kojima decided against it and therefore Kikuko was not in MGSV. He also recalled that when he showed that material in the studio everyone started crying and they could not even record.
“Peace Walker was made for the PSP, so I lowered the target age group by like 10 years. […] We had Ground Zeroes, and then MGS5 Phantom Pain, but Chico wasn't in MGS5, so you weren't credited. […] But this scenario would have deviated from the main story so I decided against it and so, Kikuko, you weren't in MGS5.”
