The unfinished arc of Oshii’s failed scan was closed: after Oshii’s appearance on the podcast — Kojima called it his favourite episode of the season and said he still laughs when he listens to it, adding that he did not think many people knew Oshii was so talkative — Oshii visited Kojima Productions and Kojima said they were finally able to do the long-awaited 3D scan of him. Kojima outlined the plan that Oshii may appear somewhere in the game as someone who walks around and whom you can run into when playing offline; he will not be part of the story. Kojima added that Oshii is a big fan of The Phantom Pain, with hundreds of hours on that title as well, and said he hopes Oshii will return for a second visit in season 2 to discuss it.
