Kojima said that in 2022 he had not read as many books as he would have liked: he had a stack of about 250 books to read, of which he had read around 150, and that as the selection deadline approached he panicked and read a lot of them all at once. He criticized that habit, saying reading only to make a selection is wrong and that this way he could not read at a leisurely pace.
