“The album is called Wish and it was released in 1992 […] This is my favourite album of theirs. […] And actually, the song that I picked out isn't my favourite song. It's my second favourite.”
Kojima's favourite The Cure album is Wish (1992), and the song he picked from it, "Friday I'm in Love", is not his favourite on the record but his second favourite. In 1992 he was super busy with work but still regularly visited record shops; he heard the song playing in one of those shops and bought it. He says he discovered Roxy Music late, in their later years after they had shifted more towards pop, and that fans were apparently not very happy with that direction — the same thing happened with the Stranglers when they also turned pop at the end — which he contrasts with the more punk vibe from the period when Brian Eno was in the band.
