HIDEO KOJIMA presents Brain Structure #16 — Hideo Kojima x Norman Reedus

“I first met Hideo when Guillermo del Toro called me and said, 'Hey, there's a guy who's going to call you and wants to do a video game with you. Just say yes.' I said, 'Who is he?' And he said, 'Trust me, just say yes.'”

“There needs to be trust between myself and the actors in order to see it through, because it can get pretty tough.”

“And Norman plays Daryl, a character that doesn't exist in the original story. And in the end, he became the main character.”

“Sony has this new technology system called the Mado. It means window in Japanese. […] It feels like an illusion almost. Like the person on the screen is right there.”

“And in order to appeal to those who didn't play the first one, I've made the game nostalgic, but also new.”

“Inside that room, it's not really Sam, it's basically Norman.”

“There are very few actors like that nowadays but I see that potential in Norman which is why I didn't give him any lines.”

“As far as digital contents go, we basically only had a naked Norman, a naked Lou, a beach and a whale. And well, that reflected the state that Kojima Productions was in. We were naked.”
