Anecdote 2022-12
“As far as digital contents go, we basically only had a naked Norman, a naked Lou, a beach and a whale. And well, that reflected the state that Kojima Productions was in. We were naked.”
What it documents

Kojima described the first Death Stranding teaser (E3, June 2016) as an involuntary self-portrait: at the time he still had no studio and was working from a temporary office with very few staff, where they scanned Norman. He said that in terms of digital content they basically only had a naked Norman, a naked Lou, a beach and a whale, and that that reflected the state Kojima Productions was in — we were naked, with no home, no rooms and not even sound equipment. In that tight situation the song I'll Keep Coming by Low Roar came to mind, and when he assembled the footage the visuals seemed to be made in sync with the sound; it felt perfect and that is how they got started.
