En 2011 Kojima describió su semana como dormir solo cuatro horas por noche y pasar el resto del día trabajando o en reuniones; dijo que él mismo lamenta estar tanto tiempo lejos de su familia, pero que intenta dejar libres los fines de semana para estar con ellos.
