Lo enmarcó en un cambio generacional: los creadores de antes cruzaban desde otros medios —Masaki Yamada, novelista que empezó en el cine; Katsuhiro Otomo, que llegó del interés por el cine al dibujo y el anime—, mientras que hoy quien crece viendo anime hace anime y quien crece jugando hace videojuegos; esa es, para él, la diferencia.
